Mother nursing baby

First 5 Sacramento funds breastfeeding support services to give families the information and tools to initiate and maintain breastfeeding. Through a variety of clinics throughout Sacramento County, our partners at Women, Infant, Children (WIC) and Community Resource Project (CRP) are able to provide mothers with the following:

  • Breastfeeding Helpline: Sacramento County WIC, 916-875-2120; CRP WIC, 916-326-5841
  • Information and tools to learn about breastfeeding
  • One-on-one help from a lactation consultant
  • Access to breast pumps
  • Creating a back-to-work or school plan
  • Ongoing support

Dads are welcome!

What We Do

Providing breastfeeding support services to ensure moms have the tools to nurse up to at least six months.

Why We Do It

The nutrition from breast milk helps prevent common illness in infants. Breastfeeding also creates nurturing and bonding between mom and baby.
